Urooj is a Stand-Up Comedian, a content writer and also an actor. She grew up in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). She moved to Mumbai, Maharashtra, India when she was 12. She was born into a Muslim Family, though she claims to be an Atheist. Urooj has won several Stand-Up competitions including FemaPalooza. And is one of the most prominent faces of Stand Up comedy across the new generation.

She did her schooling from Ryan International School. And later did her Graduation in Psycology.
CAREER
Urooj started her career as a comedy content writer in 2014. When she worked with Abish Mathew for his show Son of Abish. In 2016, she did a two moths internship with All India Bakchod (AIB) and in 2017 she wrote content for the AIB video 'Honest Engineering Campus Placements'. In the same year She also played the role of a girl 'Supriya' who is trying to avoid distractions caused by the apps on her phone for a AIB video titled 'If Apps were People'. She has also worked as an actor for the web series Puspavalli, she played the role of Tara and her acting skills were appreciated a lot by everyone. Talking about her content writing career, In 2018 she has also worked as a content writer for 'Die Trying' starring Kenny Sabestian (a famous Stand-Up comedian).
Urooj made her comedy debut in the TLC's Queens of Comedy(2017), it is India's first ever female Stand-Up comedy show. She was among the top three and the most loved contestants of the show. The show gained her recognition among people. She also hosted the Comicstaan season 2 (2019), Comicstaan is an Indian Stand-Up comedy show.
She also has a YouTube channel Urooj Ashfaq, with more than 3.5 lac subscribers and over 15 Million views (as of May 2021).She uploads Stand-up comedy videos on her channel.

1. She is an atheist.
2. She occasionally consumes Alcohol.
3. After completing her graduation in Psychology, she applied to get her masters from various colleges but was rejected. Hence she had a gap year so she started performing at Open Mics and since then she never looked back. That one year changed her life.
4. Since her childhood she was an extrovert girl and made friends very easily due to her funny nature. "I've always been the class clown. It's just my way of making friends. I make a joke, diffuse any tension and make friends" said Urooj.
5. She has won many Stand-Up competitions in Mumbai. Urooj was also the winner of FemaPalooza in 2017, FemaPalooza is an Indian Open mic competition for female comedians.
6. She was slammed by her fans for taking active part in the anti CAA Protests.
