Akash Banerjee -

Akash Banerjee is a Political and Social Satirist, Independent Journalist and the founder, owner of 'The Deshbhakt' YouTube channel with almost 2 million subscribers (as of March 2021). His political view is liberal and he calls himself an Anti-Establishment.

He has also written a book called 'Tales from Shining and Sinking India'. Perhaps the first and only book in India that details the real world workings of news channels; the deadlines, the pressures and the thrill of getting the pictures in first from the field. The book now is part of suggested readings of many media schools. He's a full time YouTuber, but before it he was a part of many well known Television News Channels like India Today, he also worked as a Radio Jockey at Radio Mirchi.

His YouTube videos are not biased to anyone, he explains the topic, presents the logic ad facts, and the audience make their opinion themselves based on the facts. He is well known among the youth as an Independent Journalist and truly working as the fourth pillar of Democracy.

EDUCATION 

He got his Bachelor of Arts (BA (Hons.) ) degree in history from Hindu college in 2004. He has also done MA in history from St. Stephen's college

CAREER

In 2002 he joined Radio Mirchi as and was Working as part of the core team that set up Radio Mirchi in Delhi - worked as a Producer / RJ on a late night show - DCH. Created a solid listenership base from 11pm to 1am. But in April 2004 he left the job and in 2005 he joined 'Times Now' as an Anchor/Correspondent and became a Part of the core team that launched Times Now. Political Correspondent/News Anchor from Delhi (covering the Left beat) Moved to Mumbai in the second year to take on more anchoring responsibilities. Executed a number of acclaimed 30 minute long format news documentaries as part of the News Journey Series (2005-2007).

Then in 2007 joined India Today as principal Anchor/Correspondent, soon became the senior anchor but in December 2012 he left the job and again (in the same year) joined Radio Mirchi as Associate Vice President of Cluster and regional programming head, in March 2018 he left the job. Currently he is the Chief Instigator of 'WhySoSerious' , India's first socio-political satire show, that takes on the establishment, political u-turns, general hypocrisy and the sensationalist media.

Attempting to throw light on some of the most vexed issues facing India, with dollops of laughter and satire.

He is also the Founder & Head Chatterbox- @SocialBakBak (Boutique SM Consultancy), @SocialBakBak delivers custom made solutions to Individuals, Institutions and Businesses that want to ensure the maximum mileage from their Social Media presence.
